Chimney Services

The National Fire Protection Association recommends that homeowners have their chimney inspected at least once a year!

We offer a full portfolio of chimney system services throughout Northern Virginia, and are equipped to address all of your maintenance and safety needs. Our services include:

Water Leak & Condensation Resolution & Repair

WE CAN FIX YOUR LEAKY CHIMNEY!! This is one of the most popular issues we see with chimneys. If water is damaging your fireplace inside or out, we’ll find and fix it–no matter the source.

Dryer Exhaust Services

According to the CSIA, there are nearly 2,900 dryer vent fires every year in the United States. Failure to inspect and clean your dryer vent yearly can create not only a safety hazard, but can also decrease your dryers efficiency. The CPSC encourages homeowners to not only have their dryer vents and exhaust ducts cleaned periodically but also have plastic/foil ducting replaced with a semi-rigid metal duct. We are CSIA certified to inspect and clean your dryer exhaust vent- keeping not only your home safe but also increasing your dryers efficiency! Our dryer exhaust services start at $150. Give us a call today!

Chase Cover and Upper Wood Trim Board Replacement

Because of our expertise in fence work, we have the tools and knowledge to repair old chase covers as well as rotting upper wood trim. In most cases, an HOA or other community organization will demand this be done. We take care of rotting wood as well as the chase cover. If the issue is left unresolved, and the siding of a home is in fact badly rust stained, the siding will need to be replaced. Therefore, it is better to take care of this problem that originates with the chimney, before further issues arise!

Waterproofing Repair and Restorations

We offer the full range of repairs to chimney systems, big and small—from repairing leaky flashing to tuckpointing and masonry repair to relining the flue and chimney rebuilding. We routinely work with homeowners, roofers and property managers to solve water related problems around chimneys.

Chimney Evaluations & Sweeping

Our CSIA Certified Chimney Sweep is me the owner of the company.  I have been in the chimney business for 35 years and I have continuously held and renewed the CSIA Certification since 1988. The CSIA Certification is a voluntary program put forth by the National Chimney Sweep Guild designed to train INDIVIDUALS in proper techniques, safety issues and codes.  The Certified Sweep signs a written code of ethics and fair business practices as part of the program. We pay annual fees to fund the program and we pay retesting fees to recertify every 3 years.

I will come to your house to honestly evaluate and sweep chimneys of all kinds, including oil-, wood-, and gas-burning chimneys as well as installing electric inserts. While sweeping your system, I will ensure that it’s in proper working order. I look for any problems that could prevent peak performance and recommend what is needed for your system to burn cleanly and safely.

Our current charge for a fireplace chimney cleaning is $169.00. Our current charge for just the Level 1 Inspection is $95.00. The charge could be slightly more for woodstove, gas log or furnace chimneys.

Beware and be suspicious of the below market cost offers you may receive.  Watch out for some of the out of town companies with the glitzy websites who send some recently hired subcontractor working on a commission out to your house. Remember you are inviting this employee into your home to honestly and fairly service your fireplaces and chimneys and point out any areas that could present a safety hazard to your family!

A fireplace is the only place in your home where you openly welcome fire and heat during the chilly months. But, there is potential for it to expel toxic gasses or carbon monoxide in to your home if not operating correctly. Let's get it right and working properly so that you can enjoy the ambience and heat of a safe burning fireplace.

The Electric Alternative

We can help you plan, purchase, and install electric fireplaces and inserts.

Electric fireplaces are the fastest growing segment of the hearth products industry. These electric units are both budget and environmental friendly- costing less than the installation and maintenance of a gas unit and creating less pollution than a gas/wood fireplace. Wall mounted units can suddenly add an attractive fireplace to areas such as a master bedroom or bathroom where no fireplace presently exists. Electrics have all the bells and whistles of flame color/intensity control, remote control operation, and the option or not to add supplemental heat.

With many different models available and different features and details that come with each, picking the right electric unit can be tough. Need help choosing? Let us buy and install a beautiful electric fireplace for your home. Or, choose your own and have us install it!

The best way to prevent moisture from rain and snow, animals, leaves, and other debris from entering your chimney is to install a chimney cap.
